- Do we remove existing grass and landscaping before installation?
- We remove all existing grass and landscaping before installing your artificial turf.
- Does artificial turf fade over time?
- Synthetic grass has built-in UV protection that allows it to hold its color even under the most dramatic conditions. The Jack’s Turf warranty covers degradation from ultra violet radiation from the sun for 8 years for landscape turf and 7 years for a putting green surface.
- Does artificial turf look fake?
- Our artificial turf has come a long way from it’s progenitor, Astro Turf. Our synthetic turf is made of the highest quality yarns and designed to emulate the look and feel of real grass. Many of our customers can’t tell the difference between a real lawn and our synthetic turf.
- Does artificial turf trap odor?
- We have a unique installation process designed to help eliminate odor caused by particles being trapped. It’s common for artificial turf to be installed using sand filler on top. This sand filler will trap odor particles requiring regular deodorization. In all of our installations, we use a synthetic product called EmeraldFill that will not trap odor.
- Does it get hot?
- Yes, it can get warm if it is in direct sunlight but not hot enough to burn you. If you are planning an activity simply spray with water to take the temperature down. This should cool your turf for a good 3-4 hours. A representative can also explain about infill choices that can also help to reduce the temperature if it is a concern.
- How affordable is artificial turf?
- We have a number of affordable programs starting at $7.99/sq. ft installed...however, to give you a precise estimate for your specific area of interest a product specialist will need to come out to your home and take a look at the specific you're interested in to be able to give you an accurate estimate. And of course, they will also bring you our various grass samples to select from and will be able to provide your estimates accordingly.
- How does artificial turf handle drainage?
- Artificial turf is designed so that water drains right through the turf and into the ground soil beneath.
- How does it get installed?
- It’s a fairly simple process actually….first, they excavate the installation site 3-4 inches down, lay some permeable cloths to combat weeds and the like, fill back up with a road base or decomposed granite material to create the design of your installation site. Next, the turf gets laid down and secured/pinned. The final step will be to power broom in your infill (if infill is determined necessary)….and that’s pretty much it!
- How easy is it to take care of?
- Artificial turf is the perfect solution for a practically maintenance free lawn. The only tasks you have to perform are the occasional hose down and rake the lawn when leaves and other debris fall on the turf.
- How long does it last?
- With proper installation and care you should realize a good 10-15 years of useful life (or longer)!
- How long does it take to install artificial turf?
- An average landscaping area might take 2 to 3 days. Each installation is customized so it is hard to say exactly without a site visit. We average approximately 200 square feet (10 x 20 feet) of all-inclusive installation work – ground prep and installation of finished product in a one day time period.
- How much water can you save with artificial turf?
- A lawn of 1000 square feet (non-coastal) requires 56,000 gallons of water per year to maintain, which is equivalent to all the yearly water needs of three adults.
- How much will it save in maintenance?
- Maintenance is simplified to just keeping it clean. You can remove organic materials like leaves from the surface, typically by using a leaf blower or a lawn sweeper. Rakes may be required for removing heavier objects. But the leaf blower is the ideal tool for general upkeep. A stiff, natural bristle broom can be used to “fluff” high traffic areas.
- Is artificial turf safe for children and pets?
- You can have a dog AND a beautiful lawn all of the time!! Over 80% of artificial turf customers are dog owners. Liquids drain right through, droppings can be picked up as they would be with regular grass or washed off with a hose, and dogs will not dig through the backing.
Kids love it! Jack’s Turf is softer and safer than real grass and kids have loads of fun playing on it. Parents love the fact of no more stained pants and scraped knees! - What kind of maintenance is required for synthetic lawns?
- Minimal care and maintenance is required, if any. Just an occasional raking to fluff the blades (as needed) and perhaps an occasional spray of water to rinse away any environmental debris and/or dust, pet urine, etc.
- What kind of warranty do you give?
- We provide an unparalleled 15 year installation warranty on workmanship. In addition, there is an 8 year factory warranty. Please see our guarantee page for more details.
